So far so good. These shoes are incredible comfortable for powerlifting. I will also use them as driving shoes on road trips. I'm hoping the stitching on the exterior of the soles hold up.
Joshua F.
Over all they’re extremely comfortable! I printed out the size guides and still I feel like I got one size too big. But they are extremely comfortable and grippy! The toe box has tons of room which in this case I think it’s great! Great job I love it

Over the course of the last few months, I have bought and returned probably 80 pairs of shoes (no exaggeration). The issue is I have 4E+ wide feet, and a size 7 mens. My feet are also almost the same width all the way down, and my toes are all very similar length. I have "Hobbit" or "flinstone" feet in the worst way. I usually have to size half a size up for shoes, and then I end up tripping over them. The first time I ordered Ursus, I ordered my normal 7 and they were too long. The company was great and sent me a return label, and I reordered a size 6.5. Best decision I have ever made. I have yet to test them in daily life, but they are outstanding in the gym and for casual activity. I love being barefoot, and this is the next best thing. They grip like wrestling shoes and feel like slippers. I ordered my second pair right before this review. I have to see how they do in normal everyday stuff, but if Duffin's instagram is any idea, they hold up great.
Size: 6.5 mens (SIZED HALF A SIZE DOWN)
For real, these rock.

The black is super clean looking. The fit and comfortability is on point. Love these shoes for squats!
Thank you Bearfoot!
David F.
Perfect shoes to grip the floor for squats, deadlifts, etc.
Matthew N.
The first thought I had while trying these on were, “these are the last training shoes I’ll ever need.” I love them. Love the wide toe box, thin sole for barefoot-like contact with the ground but with traction. They are extremely comfortable. Highly recommended - from an orthopedic physical therapist.
Jerry S.
Accurately sized, ready to rock out of the box, perform perfectly under load, much better to walk around in than deadlift slippers, work pretty great for flat footed squats too!
Jon D.
True to size. Flat and flexible. Good grip as well. Recommended.
James F.
I have worn these shoes for a week to work and every day, and I have to say they are way better than my shoes I have from Xero, these are like slippers don't you can't trip in while wearing and yes I've tried several times to "trip" and I literally can't, I definitely recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a sturdy pair of shoes for work or just every day use.
Kainon C.
BY FAR, one of my favorite shoes of all time!
Philip M.
First of all these joints S L A P. Feels like I’m walking skr8 on the ground. Except like I’m Spider-Man so my feet do not be slippin. Got mad grip in these. Feel like I could walk up the wall in these.
Scott R.
Went a half a size down, best pair of lifting shoes I have ever had. I have extremely wide feet and they are just wide enough for me.
Trey A.
I can definitely tell a difference wearing these shows compared to others. Especially the grips at the bottom of them, that especially help my stance and feet stay in one place. Love them and wear them absolutely everywhere!
Jesse W.
This is by far the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn. It’s nearly the perfect overall shoe! The only drawback is that with my foot there’s too much space where my heel fits. So when I grip the ground during a lift my heel will slide to the inside. Likewise, during athletic movement if I quickly break left or right my heel will slide the opposite way. Either way, I am very satisfied with my purchase. As long as they’re being sold, Usus LT will be my lifelong casual wear.
Jon V.
Enjoyed my first pair but it was a half size too big for my liking when lifting so it became my casual walking shoe. Got a second pair in the correct size and it made a huge difference in all my lifts including bench. The reason for only 4 stars is that the suede upper on one side has an inch long rip near the toe cap stitching. This has me a bit worried about the durability in the long run since I’ve only had this pair for 4 months and used in gym only a few times per week.
Tk T.
I've always struggled feeling grounded in my lifts. But since I've started wearing these, I feel so much more secure and connected to the ground. With all the effects of a tripod foot but all the comfort of footwear with a sleek and sexy aesthetic to match. 10/10!!
Matthew T.
I just took these out of the box and love them already! tried on for size and super glad i picked the right size! very nice. ii was a bit hesitant to order. t's a little risky purchasing clothing from the USA when living in Canada due to shipping costs, possible custom duties fees and taxes (which I didn't get dinged on, so super plus there!), and possibly choosing a bad size and having to return, which can be a pain.
I can tell these are really high quality shoes. I was looking for something to replace the discontinued rebook crossfit lo tr training shoes that I really got used to and really love and was worried when they discontinued them I wouldn't find anything even close. But these are perfect! and even better! They feel amazing. highly recommend. I can tell these are going to be great gym shoes. better than i was hoping. ;) i could wear these all day. I'm gonna even buy as gift for some gym buddies and family i think. thanks! cheers.
Josh
I made the switch to these after 2-3 years of wearing No Bulls. I like the feel much better, closeness to the ground, and especially the toe room. They are comfortable to wear with out socks, which is a huge plus in my book. These also are quite a bit grippier than No Bulls on a platform(still pretty new, so that could be a factor), and 80 bucks is way less than what I had to pay for all of my other training shoes. I cannot comment on durability yet, but they are very well made, so I expect them to hold up for at least a year. I wear them EVERYWHERE, and would love to see a waterproof model or something like that come out to wear in wet grass. Also, my wife is a nurse, and she is very jealous of these. Nurses pretty much get stuck with those ankle breaking clogs all day, and if these came out in a water proof/blood stain resistant finish, she would be all over them!
TLDR: Awesome shoe, feels great, I look forward to other finishes and colors, and will continue to purchase these.
Jacob A.
Most comfortable shoes I’ve ever squatted in. Just squatted 705 in these and couldn’t be happier. I’m not much of a heeled shoe squatter I like squatting barefoot so these are perfect.
Doug W.
Wasn’t sure what to expect... but from the moment I put them on, I was in love. Highly recommend
Nick C.
These are perfect. The interactive shoe guide was great for deciding what shoe I need. It was very hard to find a barefoot lifting shoe that would accommodating my correct toes.
Steve
Only used them for one low bar squat workout so far, but I'm already sold. Sizing was pretty much true to size with other shoes. The toe box is roomy and very comfortable and the soles provide great traction. It is great to be able to splay and engage toes during squat set up.
Haven't had chucks in 20+ years, but from what I remember of them these are a much better quality. Can't wait to squat again!
Chad E.
Fantastic shoe! The feedback from the ground is exactly as expected, and I can more easily detect -and correct- the imperfections in my technique.
Nathan K.
So happy with them I bought a second pair the first day I wore them
Kyle K.
Just got the low tops in and put them to the test. Back squats, front squats, and deadlift variations. These are fantastic; plenty of room for the toes, and a nice minimal sole for maximum form on your lifts. I still went with my standard shoe size and these fit perfect. Quality product well worth the wait
Pedro V.
Bearfoot makes a quality product with true functional mechanics built into this shoe. The toebox is a great natural feel when performing lifts and all around casual wear.
Trevor S.
Outrageously comfortable. Thin, flat, and flexible just as described. The large toe box is almost comical, but the comfort I feel walking around in these all day is incredible. I’ll be getting a second pair for lifting as well. The grip is unbeatable. Great product.
Erica L.
BIG fan! Not only are these comfortable as can be, they have been very fun at the gym! Squat day has never been so technical.
Recommending to all my friends, only wish they had a few smaller sizes for women.
Carl J.
These shoes are amazingly comfortable having worn spongy trainers for years i immediately felt a difference in these you can really feel the ground through them a lot better i am hoping they will help strengthen my feet and ankles.
Jonathan O.
Absolutely love these shoes! There's only one problem, three of the metal grommets for the laces on the right shoe didn't have backing, so those grommets have popped loose of the leather and my laces have started tearing the leather in those places too, which is a huge shame since everything else about the shoes are amazing. I didn't write a complaint or anything because frankly I was too lazy after discovering what was happening about 3 weeks into wearing them... but I got an email asking for a review and so I'm finally bringing it up. I'm not looking for a refund or anything just want to bring it up since I was asked what I thought.
Morgan M.
Arrived fairly quickly especially during Covid where everyone is using it as an excuse for long order processing times. Love the comfort of the shoes as well
Christoph V.
Really nice shoes
rachel o.
Absolutely love these shoes! They are really comfortable to wear with plenty of room in the toe box which allow the toes to splay and connect to the ground. Have been wearing them for a little over a week now and am super impressed.
Andrew L.
These shoes are everything I was hoping for and more. They have that extremely solid sole like Chucks, but these are flat which creates a much more stable base especially paired with the wide toe box. I’m able to dig my feet into the ground more and create more tension. 5/5 - would highly recommend, especially for the price.
Crystal
Love them so far!
I usually wear chucks when I workout, and my Nike Lift shoes for squats.
I used these today to do everything bu cardio and I like how flat yet comfortable they are. Reminds me of jazz slippers.
I’m 5’9, 175lbs, 32yr old and ordered a size 7 (I wear an 8.5 in women’s).
I mostly do bodybuilding style workouts.
Justin K.
Super comfortable, well-made shoes. I wear them for everything, from heavy sled pulls to trips to the grocery store. Solid product, I suggest ordering your size (not 1/2 size under like others).
Chris B.
First off, this shoe is nothing like the minimalist shoe on the market. Bearfoot took into account what the user will want, feel and how they will use the shoe. Keep up the great work, Bearfoot!
Off topic, their customer service is great too!
Stanislav B.
Love the shoes! Got a size 9 that fits my wide feet perfectly!
Alex C.
Love these shoes. They feel excellent on my feet and allow me to feel extremely close to the ground. These shoes do not slip. Makes leg drive work as it should. I particularly like them for sumo deadlifting. These shoes also look great and I prefer the all black stealth look to them! Definitely recommend.
mitch m.
I switched from chuck taylors to the ursus and it made a world of difference I can keep my whole foot on the ground now where I used to have a problem of my toes coming off the ground on squats. I wear them for deads and bench as well most comfortable shoe I've worn in or out of the gym.
Noh H.
Very good grip
I was able to exercise more stably
I want to sell this thing wholesale
Please contact me
Scott F.
Comfortable. I decided to give this brand a try after my chucks wore out. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed.
Karl F.
After managing to get these on back-order, I waited approx 6 weeks to receive them once they were shipped. Given the current situation with Covid and being located in the Netherlands, I expected it t take that long. Anticipation was high.
I had worn barefoot type shoes before, namely the New Balance Minimus shoes which have been excellent. I have to say though, the Ursus are fantastic. I have naturally broad feet and so always feel like they're being smushed a touch, but with the Ursus there is zero smush and they fit like a glove. The New Balance Minimus shoes are incredibly good in terms of closeness to ground, grip and support, but the Ursus are next level. Th only way you can get closer to the ground is to actually be bare foot. The shoe molds to the foot perfectly and the grip is far better than I would have expected them to be.
The only disappointing aspect I have found is that the finish on the inside of the right foot by the little toes is very poor, there is a large knot / bulge where the finish has not been good that rubs on the little toe. I expect that will "break in" over time but it was very disappointing to find, especially as I put the left foot on first and it felt like wearing slipper.
I've worn the them for all 3 of the big lifts a few times now and love them.
Angelino R.
These shoes are super cool they look like king Fu movie shoes. I tried using them for running but one of them ripped so I'm gonna buy another pair. Use them for casual and weightlifting just don't run in them. Also, buy half a size smaller than your normal and they for nice and snug.
sean p.
Good shoes, great customer service. I went by the interactive size guide and ordered my usual size but they were too big. I contacted customer service and they noted an updated guide which actually indicated a size smaller than my usual. The exchange process was painless and easy. The new pair fit great and look good too.
Richard Y.
I was initially skeptical of buying these. Not because of the concept but because of durability. They have very quickly become a shoe I wear everywhere, every single day. They’ve been through all sorts of weather, squats, deadlifts, dogs, you name it. They are still in the same structural condition they were when I bought them. My FAVORITE shoes.
Jared F.
Love them! Feel like nothing is on my feet! So nice! Buying another pair!
Marc D.
Very, very happy with the Ursus shoes! I went a half size smaller than dress shoes aka a full size Smaller than running shoes and love the fit!
Alex T.
LOVE them for every day shoes but found them a bit soft and not tight enough for lifting. I think im going to go a half size down without the footbeds for liftinfg and wear my current ones day to day.
Stephen B.
Great shoe, great fit, nuff said
Natalie R.
I have nerve damage in my right foot from a horse stepping in me and shoes irritate the hell out of me. NOT THESE! I wore them all day, without socks even! No pain, no irritation of the nerve damage and no leg pain that usually comes after walking and working outside all day. My only wish is that I could have a pair of work boots like these!!
Xan G.
After a week in the Ursus as my everyday shoe - my first "minimalist" shoe after years of wearing the clunkiest items in the Nike and Adidas lineup - knee issues I've had for over a decade have significantly improved, as has a lingering calf pain and tightness I've been dealing with since a back injury a year ago. As expected with everything Chris puts his name on, these live up to the hype. High quality and incredibly comfy, too!
Kenn K.
Great shoes for squats and deads
Breann M.
Bought these for my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves them! Can’t wait for him to try them in the gym
Thomas C.
Excellent product, piss poor costumer service reached out via email and social media no response what so ever
Aaron H.
These shoes are nothing short of amazing. They fit like a glove and the wide toe box instantly enhances foot stability by allowing your foot to move and function like it should! I've recently used this shoe when squatting, deadlifting, pressing, and just about every lift besides cleans & snatches. If you're serious about lifting big weight with great technique, this shoe needs to be on your feet.
Jeff B.
10/10 function and comfort. Best shoe I’ve worn for strength sports hands down.
Devyn A.
They're awesome, look great, well made, and hopefully will translate to healthier feet the more I use, so far so good!
Jonathan F.
I have a neuroma in my foot. These shoes have a wide enough toe base so my feet don’t feel constricted. I don’t slip when deadlifting.
I wish they had them in leather so I could wear them to work (I’m a nurse). That’s a side point, but I would recommend these to anyone, especially since they are affordable and sleek looking.
Zack W.
I’m a gym owner, Powerlifter, and Kettlebell instructor. These shoes have changed the game for me. During my heavy lifts and Kettlebell work, I’ve never felt so under control and grounded. I honestly will never train in anything else ever again.
Cole O.
These shoes are awesome! I’m a big advocate for a healthy, balanced foot and the crossover to all things fitness, especially weight lifting. The wide toe box is awesome, for proper rooting and foot/toe manipulation. The grip is unreal, I’ll never slip out from a sumo pull again! To top it all off they are super comfortable also. I need a second pair to wear outside the gym.
David T.
Bought these to replace my current shoes to train with. Love then as a casual shoe, but for training not so much. I have been wearing zero drop and barefoot shoes for about 10 years. The way the insole is inside the shoe when torquing you’re feet to create tension your foot slides over the edge of the shoes insole and it creates a pinching sensation. Basically with the ultra grippy sole the upper can’t handle your rooting and the shoes mush over while the sole stays put
David T.
Great price for these shoes. Order a half size smaller than your normal shoe size. The sizing printout is a little deceiving. I am normally a 13. In the printout I was a 13. I ordered a 12.5 as I wanted them to be a little snug and they are actually a perfect size with a little room left in the toe box as you can see in the picture.
salman s.
Experienced severe back pain, hip, calf and foot pain when walking, running and even simply sitting and eating. fast forward wore the ursus and no pain at all
Amanda D.
Absolutely love these shoes! I have noticed an improvement in rooting and foot movement already after 3 days of consistent wear. They’re great in and out of the gym! Insanely happy with this purchase!
Mick S.
Very comfortable, they allow your feet to work as they should, they also have good grip ,although they are a training shoe I would recommend them even if you just wanted them to walk around at home too, work great for squats and deadlifts, all in all a great shoe
Steven G.
I bought 2 pairs of these shoes, one for general wear and lifting, the other for strongman, strongman has a tendency to tear through shoes. Fit they run slightly big compared to your normal shoe size, I usually wear 11's wish I had ordered 10's. Other than that they fit well and are the most comfortable barefoot shoes I have had while keeping the best ground feel I have had.
Lifting: squats felt much better I used my deadlift shoes for squats and these blew them out of the park, bench, i bench flatfooted once i set my feet they grip the floor so hard almost feel impossible for them to slide. Conventional deadlift feels great as well. Strongman event training so far best shoe I have had.
Nothing but positives just remember to size down and you will have the best lifting shoes on the market. If these shoes also stand the test of time and wear I won't be surprised when I see almost all powerlifters wearing them in couple years
Eddie T.
Wide toe box, fantastic grip, just a great design overall! Love these
Paul R.
Ursus are the real deal. The wide toe box and thin rubber sole really give you the ability to feel the floor. Since I can’t wear just socks to the gym these give my feet the freedom they need. I ordered a 1/2 size smaller and they fit perfectly. Thanks for getting these developed!
Aaron R.
Best shoe I’ve ever worn and lifted in. I have very wide feet and foot issues from years of football. I HATE almost every shoe and I’ve tried most of them to find a good fit for my messed up feet. From the first time I put them on, they fit perfect and my feet actually have room to root and grip without feeling like the shoe is too big. The grip on the bottom is unreal and you feel like your bound to the floor. I can lift barefoot at my gym and will still use these 100% of the time. Not to mention it’s backed by Chris Duffin, you know they will survive hell and back. Don’t read my review anymore and go buy a couple pair!
Sofia Y.
Female, intermediately strong, conventional deadlifter here ...So these size 7 Ursus are literally the foot capsules I've been praying for and worth the wait....1 bc I primarily deadlift in socks 2 bc I have a wide foot 3 bc all flat/chuck-like soles that fit my 8.5 wide female foot are not the most durable and/or thin, either have too much give or not enough to root in that "barefoot" way. Not only do they fit, but they fit my simple, neutral gym aesthetic! I deadlifted up to a heavyish single and they felt extremely natural and light. You definitely don't have to break these in too! Thank you!
David
The Ursus are great for people who hate shoes. Rooting is next level, everything feels comfortable and natural. These shoes are perfect for outside the gym too. Grips the ground well and surprisingly waterproof for such a low profile shoe.
ben p.
Bought these to replace my Chucks that were falling apart. Put them to the test the next day doing Yoke walks. Felt great and sturdy. Obviously since I've only had them for three days I can't speak to durability but they don't feel cheap or anything.
Reid C.
I have a hard time finding shoes that fit because of how wide my feet are. These things are PERFECT. I can properly root in them, they're ridiculously comfortable, and they are really grippy. My feet didn't move in the shoe once while I was pulling 705.
Christian H.
I just got mine! I really never experienced a shoe that feels like this before. They are so comfortable and my foot just feels so in touch with the earth LOL. I really don’t know how else to put it. Can’t wait to get under a bar with these on!
Duke R.
Felt great as soon as I put them on. First day using them and they were great throughout my squat session. They don’t even feel like they need to be broken in. There’s no slipping while rooting into the floor and I could use my feet as if I was barefoot. These are a game changer. Plus they are pretty cool looking.
Peter N.
A very well-made, handsome looking shoe that does not cut on functionality. I just finished my first training session with them and have never felt more comfortable or rooted to the ground. These will be my go-to shoe for inside and outside of the gym. Bearfoot Athletics, you guys created an awesome product!!
Brian P.
These shoes are AMAZING, hands down thee best!
I have had many different types of shoes for the gym. From running shoes, oly shoes, converse, and other thin sole shoes. The ursus are just on a different level compared to every other shoes Ive ever worn before!
The comfort and the overall feel of the shoe is just spectacular.
Miguel L.
I feel definitely connected to the ground was if I was bare foot. Definitely alot of thought went into design. 8 definitely enjoy that they're not just training shoes you can definitely wear them all the time
Jack C.
Love these shoes. Feel I can create a more stable base compared to my other shoes. Really excited to train more in these.
