Leather Boot Care
DISCLAIMER: This process may change the appearance of your leather boots.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
STEP 1: CLEAN
Begin by dampening a cloth. Apply a small amount of Saddle Soap to the damp cloth. Use a soft-bristle brush to create a gentle foam by working the soap into a lather. With the foamy brush, scrub away dirt and stains, paying attention to heavily soiled areas. Once the leather is clean, wipe it down with a dry cloth to remove any excess moisture and residue. After cleaning or applying the product, it is normal for the leather to temporarily darken. Rest assured, this is a natural reaction and the leather will gradually return to its original color within a few days.
STEP 2: RESTORE
Once cleaned, apply Leather Salve to your boots using a soft, lint-free cloth. Allow the leather to fully absorb the salve (leather may appear slightly cloudy). Next, enhance the finish and create a natural sealant, gently buff the leather with a horsehair brush or a soft flannel cloth. Allow 10-20 minutes for the treatment to fully absorb into the leather before moving on to the next step.
STEP 3: STRENGTHEN
Once the Leather Salve has been absorbed, it's time to strengthen your leather boots with hydrating Leather Oil.
Apply a small amount of the oil to a clean cloth and gently rub it onto the leather surface. Use circular motions to work the oil into the leather, enhancing its natural strength and restoring its longevity.
STEP 4: CURING
You can use your leather boots once they are dry to the touch, however, for best results we recommend allowing your item to rest in a warm, dry place for 1-2 days before first use.
